M3 Intro

Today is the start of a new module and quite interesting one. At a first glance it seems advanced and all over the place in regards to the exploration of the material, kinesthetic with machine learning. However the introduction by Jens seemed refreshing and comparably to the other modules a bit more liberal. While the subject is rather large it helps to do a limitation as per the countless feedback the groups has gotten on the show and tell but also that it it makes sense to focus on one aspect of the subject. Time and energy are out most valuable resources so hopefully, while this subject is rather complex and large to take on, we will manage to do enough iteration on specific are but at the same time not be to vague or shallow in our exploration.

There was a lot of talk about fine and gross motor skills within kinesthetic interaction and this is something that at least I have always thought about never really dived deeper into. It’s going to be insightful finding out the importance of theses movement we express because it’s what defines the interaction in that specific context. Movement to me is also a very complex and nuanced word, making sense and exploring it in little under 3 weeks is a not enough time.

There seems to be these 2 easily recognizable movements, gross and fine motor skills but how about those in between? What about movements that looks very grand and expressive but that requires detailed movement and precision. It is said that we can show and communicate what we do with gross motor skills as they are easily perceivable by others while fine skills don’t for the most part show that much. As it requires slow movement or maybe a part of body part to be used it can be hard to know what the person really does.

Needless to say this module is fairly complex but I think if we settle for a specific theme it would be easier to work and explore the material.
