Sketching and Video prototype

21/1 we had a workshop in why we sketch and do video prototypes and why it is important. The workshop was followed with some practical tasks and disscussion about a couple of video prototypes.

Figure 1. Upside down portrait to learn to focus on “seeing” the sketching rather than the object.
Figure 2. A five frame sketch in what I do in the morning.

Prototypes are important because as a designer we can quickly embody our ideas into tangible physical things. A great way to actually show what your mind is thinking, wheater it is a sketch or a video.

Since we are trying to make something out of what our mind has thought of, it can’t always be that easy to replicate it into something that is a exactly a one-to-one copy. Meaning: one can always reflect and iterate on a design.

Why that is important, I believe, has to do with the fact that we are living in context where things quickly change and no design is permanent. As peoples habit change so does our need for different interaction and design.

The interesting part is when a design/interactivity becomes obsolete and why? Can a design be made future proof?
